Cognitive Load Theory
Cognitive Load Theory (CLT) has recently been described by Professor Dylan Wiliam as “… the single most important thing for teachers to know”. This course will introduce you to the key principles of CLT and, more importantly, how you can adapt your classroom teaching to take it into account. If pupil learning is defined as ‘know more and remember more’, CLT provides the foundation for this. Specific classroom-based teaching ideas will be offered to avoid overload and therefore allow pupils to learn more effectively.
